Seagate Makes Official Statement Regarding PATA Drive Discontinuation
by Lou Jacob, posted Sep.10, 2007
As we posted in a previous entry, there should be no concern about Seagate discontinuing PATA drive production. It was was incorrectly reported in a number of online publications that Seagate had announced plans to discontinue PATA drives, the ones used for upgrading Series1 and Series2 DVR systems, by the end of 2007.
We’d received unofficial confirmation of this several weeks ago, but last week, Seagate made an official statement to quell concerns. So if you were worried, relax. PATA drives will be around for as long as they are needed.
