LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! MOVIES AND TV EPISODES
FROM NETFLIX DIRECTLY TO THE TV THROUGH TIVO DVRs AVAILABLE TODAY

Just in Time for the Holidays, Offering Brings Budget Conscious Entertainment to Consumers

ALVISO, Calif. – December 8, 2008 — After announcing a groundbreaking partnership in October with Netflix Inc., TiVo Inc. (NASDAQ: TIVO), the creator of and a leader in television services for digital video recorders (DVRs), today announced that subscribers to both Netflix and TiVo® Series3, TiVo HD, or TiVo HD XL can now access thousands of movies and TV episodes instantly streamed from Netflix directly to their TVs.
The service is being offered at no additional charge to customers who subscribe to both services. This morning subscribers can browse through an expanding library of more than 12,000 movies and TV episodes at www.netflix.com, add them to their Netflix instant Queue, and then watch them on TV with just a click of the TiVo remote. The library includes titles from every genre, with a modest selection of HD content available as well. Both standard and HD titles are expected to grow in the weeks and months ahead.
“With so much talk focusing on the economy these days, this partnership makes more sense than ever because it brings people more movies at home, offering substantially more entertainment options than cable or satellite, said Tara Maitra, GM and Vice President of Content Services at TiVo Inc. “TiVo offers consumers everything they need from just one box. Not only great content from Netflix, but also movies from The Walt Disney Studios and Amazon, music from Rhapsody, videos from YouTube and even pictures from Picasa Web Albums and Photobucket. And that’s all in addition to TiVo’s core functionality that made us a favorite in the first place. It adds up to a one-of-a-kind value.”
“Netflix offers an unbeatable combination of convenience, selection, and value, which now extends to TiVo customers,” said Netflix Chief Marketing Officer Leslie Kilgore. This partnership is a win-win-win for Netflix, TiVo, and consumers alike.”
Movies are streamed from Netflix through TiVo DVRs via wired or wireless broadband connection and a Netflix Queue-based user interface. Members visit the Netflix Web site to add movies and TV episodes to their individual instant Queues. Those choices will automatically be displayed on subscribers’ TVs and are available to watch instantly through the TiVo service. With the TiVo remote control users can browse their instant Queue, make selections right on the TV screen, as well as read synopses and rate movies. In addition, they have the option of pausing, fast-forwarding, rewinding and re-starting whenever they wish.
For more information on how to have movies instantly streamed from Netflix via your TiVo DVR visit www.tivo.com/netflix.

TiVo Repair & Upgrade Services Make an Old TiVo Better than New;

Repair or Re-gift That Old TiVo

CHICAGO, IL – (November 18, 2008) – There’s new life for that old TiVo, hard drive and all, thanks to DVRupgrade’s new repair services.

For the past nine years TiVo DVRs have changed the way people watch TV, and for almost as long, DVRupgrade has been providing upgrade kits and services to advanced TiVo owners who want to increase the recording times on their TiVo. Taking things one step further, now everyone who owns an older DVR can repair and enhance it with DVRupgrade’s new repair service. There has never been an easier and faster way to repair a TiVo DVR.

“Try walking into a local electronics store to repair and upgrade a broken TiVo,” said Lou Jacob, President and founder of DVRupgrade, “they will try to sell you a new one! We have found that almost all TiVo failures are hard-drive related, and can be easily fixed with a simple hard drive replacement.” Lou goes on to say, “Also, for those who have a lifetime subscription on their TiVo, repairing your unit is worthwhile and will save you money.”

There are a few different methods to repair and upgrade your TiVo. One inexpensive approach is a “Quick-Install Kit,” where a mechanically inclined person can install, revive and upgrade a TiVo in twenty minutes. The kit includes everything required for a successful installation and requires no computer or technical experience. If the customer wants DVRupgrade to do the work, “Same Day Turnaround” service is also available.

With the holidays in mind, and for those considering the move to high definition, DVRupgrade is also offering a “Buy a New TiVo HD and Re-gift the Old” special. This service is appealing to those who would like to either give their old TiVo to someone else or use their older TiVo with another TV in the home. By purchasing an upgraded TiVo HD from DVRupgrade, the customer gets both a repair and upgrade of their old TiVo and a new TiVo HD, all for a special discount.

Repair and upgrade options for your TiVo start as low as $19.99. Learn more about DVRupgrade products and current holiday specials by visiting the DVRupgrade website at www.dvrupgrade.com.

The upgrade kit featured is a 750GB Seagate DB35 which we’ve specially tuned for the Series3; it runs quieter than most others and does a great job in the Series3.

Its true; although we’ve been incorporated as DVRupgrade, Inc. for many years,
we’ve always been known as PTVupgrade. Not any more. Henceforth, we are are DVRupgrade. Article reprinted from our pals at DVRplayground.

Today PTVupgrade officially rebranded and relaunched as DVRupgrade. The fifth generation website provides a more efficient and easier to navigate user interface as well as integrated tools such as a knowledgebase and help desk as well as integrating the download site for software product downloads.

Lou Jacob, founder of DVRupgrade, mentioned that six years ago when PTVupgrade first started as a pioneer in the aftermarket enhancement of TiVo DVR products, TiVo referred to DVRs as PTVs. Over the years, “Digital Video Recorder” (or DVR) became the standard term used for devices that record video using a hard drive-based digital storage medium rather than a videotape. In addition, Lou wanted the brand change to represent a broadened scope of products and services offered now and in the future by DVRupgrade.

Founded six years ago in September 2000 by engineers and veterans of the computer hardware and software industry, the company offered the first upgrade products for TiVo DVRs pioneering a new industry. DVRupgrade continues to lead the market in services offered. According to Lou, “networking is where it’s at, but not all DVRs can be networked in the same way but we’ve worked that out for many commonly used models.” DVRupgrade does indeed lead the industry with enhanced TiVo DVR networking products such as the “TurboNet” and “CacheCard” for Series 1 TiVo DVRs and “PTVnet” for DirecTV TiVo DVRs.

While the name has changed, DVRupgrade is the same company innovating aftermarket enhancement products such as the DIY line of software. Also, DVR Playground continues to host the Official Support Forum for DVRupgrade. DVRupgrade continues to offer an affiliate program where web site owners have the ability to earn a healthy commission on items sold through affiliate links hosted on their site.

###
About DVRupgrade DVRupgrade, Inc, formerly known as PTVupgrade, is the original professional service for upgrading your TiVo Digital Video Recorder. Established and operating since September 2000, we’ve offered pre-packaged TiVo upgrade kits and installation services for TiVo Standalone and TiVo DirecTV DVR systems longer than anyone else. DVRupgrade was founded upon a single principle: Enhance TiVo customers’ experiences with their TiVo devices by providing premium upgrade products and services; and make it easy.
