Series2 DirecTV TiVo DVR units were the second generation of TiVo unit to contain dual integrated DirecTV tuner system. Out of the box, these units do not offer any additional functionality over the original Series1 models, however these units do support newer versions of the software than the older boxes. These are very popular units to upgrade and network because the USB functionality can be enabled using our PTVnet technology, and 'hidden' features (such as HMO and MRV) can be unlocked with some additional hacking.

There are a variety of Series2 DirecTV brands available, however they are all essentially the same. The only Series2 DirecTV TiVo unit that is fundamentally different (and cannot be upgraded with PTVnet) is the DirecTV R10.
