NetReady Support Resources

Prerequisites

These support resources, downloads, and instructions are designed for Series1 DVRupgrade NetReady/CacheReady kits and Genuine TurboNet/CacheCard adapters. If your TiVo contains one of our drive upgrade kits, a TurboNet card or a CacheCard and is configured on your home network correctly, then you should no problems using the tools documented on the following pages.

As of 3/31/04, software is now available for use with all NetReady kits and will support both TurboNet and CacheCard interfaces automatically. Remember, if you have a NetReady replacement drive kit shipped PRIOR to 1/25/04, CacheCard drivers are NOT native -you'll need to install the drivers manually. Also note that the new release of NetReady will work with ANY system where TurboNet or CacheCard drivers have been manually installed, HOWEVER you should not use the SiliconDust installation tools for DVRupgrade drives prepared by us or by you using InstantCake or you may render your system unbootable (SiliconDust is working on a newer version of their utilities which will work with our kits).

Unlocking Your NetReady TiVo (Series1 units only)

Your NetReady replacement drive from DVRupgrade is secure on your network and needs to be 'unlocked' before any of our TurboNet/CacheCard software bundles can be remotely installed on them. The first step is to unlock your drive by moving the appropriate file to your TiVo, once its plugged into your network and accessible from your PC. The unlock file needs to be moved to the TiVo using FTP and there are a variety of ways to do this. If you are an advanced user, and already have an ftp program installed on your PC, you can skip the next few steps or do them in your own way. In either case, you will need the IP address of the TiVo on your network. If you are uncertain of your TiVo IP address, use the following tutorial, Locating your Networked TiVo. Otherwise, let's unlock your TiVo!

Downloads for NetReady Drives Only (Series1 units only)

All downloads are self-extracting executables for Microsoft Windows (XP preferred). They are easily uninstallable using the Windows add/remove programs feature and will not interfere with any other programs running on your PC. We strongly recommend you use the default directories specified by the installer, so the examples provided will be easy to follow.
If you have a DVRchive CacheCard or TurboNet bundle, do not use these downloads to update your system!

Additional Support Resources

Congratulations on successfully installing these utilities onto your networked TiVo! As a reminder, these tools are released and distributed under the GPL. For additional support, you can search for answers and post questions on a variety of easy-to-use interactive forums: The AVSforum has some very interesting areas, specifically the TiVo Community Forum Underground Playground. We are a sponsor of these forums and are often there answering questions, along with many other experienced folks. Additionally, we offer the DVRupgrade Forums for more advanced topics; there are not as many members on our own forums, however some of them have a great deal of experience. There are also a variety of interesting and advanced techniques documented at the DealDatabase Forums. Members there are very technical, however there is plenty of useful information for those who have the patience to read and have good technical abilities.
