If you have an upgraded TiVo that is misbehaving, or just a TiVo that is having problems and you'd like us to diagnose the problem and offer a recommendation on what the next steps to take might be, you can send us your unit and we'll give it a check up with our recertification service.
If your unit has already been upgraded and its no longer covered by our warranty, the hard drive we provided may still be covered by the manufacturer's warranty. This means you can order a recertification service for your unit; we'll diagnose the bad hard drive and exhange it with the manufacturer for a new or refurbished one, as well as reinstall it in your unit, fully configured as it was when you originally ordered it from us.

If you've already purchased a drive from another source, and would like us to prepare it for installation in your TiVo DVR, or would like to send us your DVR and the drive and have us install it for you, the recertification service is an alternative to purchasing a fully-configured drive from us. Unfortunately, we cannot extend any warranty coverage for drives that are not purchased from us, so if the drive you send is defective, or fails in the future, it is not covered under warranty.

If you've installed one of our kits (or had one of our kits professionally installed) and are still within our six-month warranty period, you can always contact us for an RMA and we'll take care of the warranty work. As an alterntive it is also possible to have a replacement kit shipped to you, along with a return label for the defective kit. This is known as a GetWell kit
and you can read more about that here. GetWell kits do require an authorization on your credit card, and require that the original drive(s) be returned within 30-days to avoid any charge.
