PTVnet is a software tool you can use to enable the USB ports on most any Series2 DirecTiVo, and install TiVoWebPlus, GotoMyDVR, telnet and FTP utilities. The combination of these tools allows you to connect your unit to your home network, disables the 'daily call' feature so you will no longer require a phone line, schedule recordings remotely over your network, or while travelling, using a web browser, and even install additional hacks and utilities for enabling multi-room viewing (MRV) and home media options (HMO) just like on Series2 standalone units.
PTVnet is intended to be used on drives upgraded with the popular MFStools (never your original drive), but it can also be used in conjunction with InstantCake to prepare a brand new drive for your unit.
