Not sure what you mean by "IDE to USB" -- the boot CD's are designed to work with PATA drives which connect to an IDE controller (or SATA drives connected to an IDE controller using an IDA-SATA converter.

If you mean that you are attempting to connect a PATA or SATA drive with an external device that is hosted by a USB connection, then it won't work for you because those drivers are not part of the boot CD's we distribute. You can look into using Knoppix or another full featured distribution; but if you are looking for a way to use our tools, then connecting your drive directly to your PC's IDE controller is probably the simplest way to go.

Can Instantcake boot from a USB connected CDROM drive, but have the hard drive connected to my 1 and only PATA port?

You seem to hint that the hard drive can now be selected in the latest version. So it should not matter where the hard drive is connected. So can the hard drive be connected as the PATA primary master?

Can the instantcake CD boot from a CDROM drive connected over USB? The bios is set to boot the CDROM drive connected over USB.

If not, can the installation scripts be modified to do this? Or is USB boot not possible?

BTW, I have a Phillips S1 HDR112. It was updgrade years ago, but the second drive just failed. I would like to use a single large hardrive with lba48 support. I've also been using the Turbocache for several years now.
