Don't know whether this is the correct place to post but here goes.
SVR2000. Have Turbo Net Card.
Telnet seems to work real good. But can't seem to properly install the gotomydvr application (whatever it is called)
Here is the error I got when I did this. It's a direct quotation off the Telnet session:
"TiVo: {/var/tmp} % /gotomydvr/bin/dbclient: TCP forward failed: Error listening:
Address already in use
/gotomydvr/bin/dbclient: Failed local port forward 7:127.0.0.1:7"
Anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks
Michael

Strange sounding error; it sounds like your TiVo is not able to reach our server for some reason. If you can provide more information such as how your unit is networked, any variables in your configuration that might affect things; details about your Internet connection etc.
We've been running the client on Series1 units for quite some time, but if there is something going on in your environment that is preventing it from being able to communicate with the server, that could cause an error like this.

Thanks for getting back.
I'm not really sure what you want for variables nor where I would find them.
Could you please be more specific? And if you could please let me know where this information can be found?
Here's what I can say.
Basically, the Tivo network card connects into my network that ends up on a router. My desktop computer communicates directly through TelNet via a wireless connection between the said router and the computer.
Telnet works fine. I can see all the prompts, files and everything else you are supposed to see right on my computer desktop. As a matte of fact much of the hacking that I did was via the wireless arrangement which I have described above.
Thanks for getting back to me.
Michael
PS: I forgot to mention that the wireless router has WEP encryption. I don't know whether that can somehow block the communication with you.
I should also tell you that I did have your service up and running at one point. Then I switched from cable tv to satellite and I had to pretty much re-apply the hacks. Maybe there is some residual stuff hanging around that is mucking up the works?
Thanks again.

Well, the first thing I would recommend doing is eliminating as many variables as possible. Reconnect your gear (temporarily) in a wired environment. If you have the same problem, that at least you know it has nothing to do with your wireless configuration or WEP, and you'll know where to focus next...
