View Full Version : Intantbake won't image drive
My Drive won't image. I have found 3 similar threads, 2 aren't applicable to my problem and the 3rd has the solution link incomplete so I'll try this.
I downloaded the softwared put the ISO image on CD. Using a computer with IDE drives I have ONLY a cd attached (jumper set to slave) and set as primary slave in the BIOS and a new unfromatted 500GB Western Digital drive (set to only drive) both attached to the same IDE cable.
When I run the software I get to the point where the I get "cake is in the oven do not interupt ... " Right afterwards I get the following messages "/dev/hdc: no such device or address" "Restore failed: Unable to open destination device for writting." "cannot continue ... processing aborted."
I would appereciate you help! Thanks!

I would appereciate you help! Thanks!Drive should be on the secondary IDE cable (usually the black motherboard connector) The western digital drive should be set to master and connected to the black cable connector. The CDrom should use the grey connector in the middle of the cable and set to slave. the blue cable connector should be connected to the black motherboard connector. the drive should be set to master for programming and chip select for normal operation.:)
I have tried it with setting the jumper on the hard drive to master (with slave present), and I have also tried reburing the ISO image on a new disc from a second downloaded version of your software (both files are the same size) and I still get the same error message. I have also read the release notes for the Toshiba RS-TX20 and there is absolutly nothing relevant to my problem. The connection method used is exactly as you have suggested with the hard drive connected to the black connector, the cd drive connected to the grey connector in the middle of the cable and of course blue to the motherboard. The results are exactly the same. Please Help!

"/dev/hdc: no such device or address" "Restore failed: Unable to open destination device for writting." "cannot continue ... processing aborted."
The error message you are receiving indicates your Hard drive is on the wrong channel. I have my cdrom as primary slave and C drive as secondary master. PS I am a user, I do not work for DVRupgrade. I am in Colorado, Dvrupgrade is in Chicago. :)
Thank you so much for the suggestion, I really appreciatey your help. I will try that set up this evening.
It would be really nice if someone from dvrupgrade actually responded to the posts too, as they claim to monitor these forums, (especially after giving me so much crap for sending an email to them). Are there any additional thoughts or suggestions or perhaps confirmation of the above suggestion from the people that took my money for the software?

We do monitor the forums. Your question has been asked and answered here many times prior to your creation of this particular thread (which is in the wrong forum, btw).
There is no reason for me to personally reply to every question asked here as there are plenty of other members of the community happy to help out.
I'll also remind you that before we "took" your money, we did indicate that there was no support for the product and before you submitted your inquiry to our helpdesk, we remind you that we don't provide private support for DIY software products - even InstantCake.
I think you'll find that if you read the instructions carefully, use the additional resources we provide to you at no additional charge, and are careful in attempting to resolve your problem, you'll have great success with the product (as many others have).
Lou
PS And if its still not obvious to you, you should be using a computer with TWO IDE controllers; from your description, you are using only one and you've not followed the instructions.
