ok, I have a series 2 tivo. Lately Ive been experiencing a problem where 1 tuner works and the other freezes randomly kind of like pause/play non stop all the time.
If i unplug the dvr for the whole day then plug it in later it works fine from a day up to a couple days.
Does anyone know what this could be ? A bad hard drive or tuner or ???
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks !!

It could be either (or both).
Have you attempted to remove the drive an run diagnostics on it on your PC?
Check out this article (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=416062) for specifics.

This sounds similar to problems others have reported and which I have had. One thing you can try is if you have multiple outputs on the back of your unit and you are driving other devices besides a TV, such as VCR or into a AV Receiver, try disconnecting the cables to the other devices and just connect to the TV. Whether you use the RCA or S-video outputs, you need to use one set. My Hughes box has two sets of RCA jacks and an S-video. When using the S-Video you usually are using the right adn left of one of the RCA outputs and not its associated video.
The whole point is that your unit may be getting old enough and suffering power problems. Not driving as many devices reduces the power usage in your unit and it may stop freezing on the other channel.
Of course, if you are only connected to one set of outputs on your unit, then this doesn't help.
There have been other posts about using only one set of outputs.
I have a two units that have this problem that I'd like to get working again and have considered sending them in for service. I even replaced some bad capacitors in one but it didn't help.
