How do I get my series 1 to work with TiVoToGo?

I have read that Your TiVo device needs to have downloaded 7.x to provide TiVoToGo functionality, how can I make sure I have the correct version of software so I can use TiVoToGo? or what other steps can I take to use this software?

There is no way to use TiVoToGo on a Series1 unit; that functionality only exists on Series2 and Series3 / TiVo HD boxes.
