Oem Drives?

What is the reason, besides having a backup drive, for not using Instantcake on the original drive in the DirecTv Tivo unit? Mine looks as if its nothing more then a standard desktop hard drive.

This is an upgrade, it uses more space than the original drive hence the drives must be larger than the original.
