After installing instantcake for a series 3 TiVo on a Hitachi 1TB drive I get the TiVo "Welcome Powering up" screen for about 15 seconds and then get a white screen. I installed instantcake onto a smaller western digital drive and got the same results. I reinstalled the original drive and it is working fine. I have used the same computer to install instantcake for a Pioneer series 2 and had no problems. Any help would be greatly appreciatred.

This may have nothing to do with your problem, but it is a possibility.

When you have the original hard drive installed, check your Video Settings and see what ones you have selected.

I can't remember which format the default screens for the S3 are displayed in (480i, 480p etc.), but I do know that some HDTVs are not able to display all formats. You might be able to get your S3 to work with the new drive by connecting it to a different TV and configuring the Video Settings there to one that the HDTV you want to use can display.

I can think of one other possibility. I am not familiar with the S3 version of InstantCake, but the one that I got for my HR10-250 replaced the original splash screen displayed during the first step of the boot with a different one. If for some reason this video image was not there, a white screen would be displayed until the second step of the boot cycle was started.

Have you tried to just let it sit for four or five minutes after trying to boot with your replacement drive? If the missing or damaged image is your problem, your S3 should display the Tivo Central screen after a few minutes.

Thanks for the reply BruceS. I'll try reinstalling the smaller new drive and see if anything happens after about 10 mimutes.
