Just a few comments about my InstantCake installation process. I have a Compaq Deskpro 2000 and when I tried to access the BIOS to boot from the CD it did not respond to any function keys or other process. A web search revealed others with the same problem. As a last resort I changed the CD drive to Primary-Master and it then booted up, ran InstantCake, and it recognized the HD (new Seagate 250G) on the Secondary-Master IDE. The first few times I ran it I got "Decompress errors" of 4% and 7%. Some runs wouldn't finish but the 4% did and when loaded into the receiver it ran but gave 0 Hours available. I ran InstantCake on the HD a final time, where it completed with no errors. The receiver then ran normally with 235 Hours available and has been put back in service. I was Just wondering about any thoughts on this process.

I would now like to upgrade my DVR39 but I understand that DVR40 InstantCake will not work on a '39.

I do not believe anyone said it will not work. If you are planning to allow the upgrade to 6.3e directv download will correct the problem for you.:)
