Thanks I don't believe these questions are appropriate for this forum. It is not good taste to ask a software vendor how to steal his software. You are supposed to buy one copy for each different device you wish to upgrade. You will have a long wait for that answer here. No one in this forum will help you pirate instantcake. If you have two RCA sd-dvr40's you can use the same CD. If you have various other machines and/or manufactures you can experiment at your own risk. If you make a mistake it could cost you a lot more than $19.99 for instantcake. The risk is all yours.

Actualy, he is the one who stole software. he uses the images which are copyprotected by the GPL Code. so Techinally he doesn't own the software. He hosts The Images Online, which is iilgeal in Tivos eyes.

You are nothing but a worthless thief trying to make excuses to justify your actions. Lou has done business for years with no complaint from TiVo. You are attempting to alter his code and change the Instantcake output. That makes you the thief not him.

Well, then I suggest you find some software, I'm sure its out there, image your existing drives and then restore them to your new drives. Ohh, and make sure you can expand your images to the new larger hard drives. Or......lets see,,,,,,,,,,,oh, thats' right....you can just buy Instantcake and make it easy!
The choice is yours.

InstantCake
InstantCake is a DIY software utility used to image a a new hard drive so that it can be used in your TiVo DVR. This is an easy way to repair a TiVo with a defective drive, or to upgrade a TiVo by installing a larger drive in place of the original.

This question has been asked and answered many times before in this forum... Each unit requires the use of a different version of InstantCake. If you are unhappy considering purchasing InstantCake for each unit you'd like to upgrade, please consider the fact that InstantCake only costs $20 and it will save you a lot of time, compared to doing an upgrade from scratch, each time you use it. Also keep in mind that it is significantly cheaper to provide your own hard drive, and use InstantCake, when upgrading your unit.
If you are not happy with that, we recommend you 'bake your cake from scratch' -- meaning that you should perform the upgrade yourself using a popular DIY guide, and you can decide whether its worth your money or your time.
As for TiVoFan33; he has been banned for only a week. I did send him a warning about his behavior on the public forum. He did not take to that kindly and got very aggressive (and obscene). If that sort of thing continues, a permanent ban will ensure. There are plenty of other places on the web to carry on like that, this forum is not one of them.
Thanks,
Lou
