Upgraded my Samsung DVR last week with PTVnet and Instant cake.

Everything was working fine for a week until this morning. I was using the tivo web interface to add a season pass. When I added the season pass it didn't show up so I did a quick restart from the tivo web interface and now I have no local channels.

When the unit starts up I get a message that it cannot get all the program info. So I went to Directv.com and did a system reset (like I did last week to get local channels)and got an error message from directv. I don't really want to call directv to fix the problem.

Should I do a "delete everything and start over"?

Thanks.

Call Directv and have them refresh your local channels. Make sure your satellite settings are correct and check your signal strength before calling. Tivo web plus is experimental - use it at your own risk. Remember you could lose everything. Good luck.:)

Well, after several attempts at "refreshing" the service using DirecTv's web site and each time getting a system error from DirecTV my DVR started showing the local channels. It took a few hours to show up.

So, my advice is don't do anything and they should come back.

I'm also not going to do any programing with the Tivo Web interface either.

I'm using a Hughes SD-DVR40, Upgraded to the 320GB and PTVnet, 6.2xx I believe...

After going thru guided setup to let the system find my correct dish, I too had lost my locals, but with DirecTv's automated system I never even spoke with a real person. I told the computer phone voice that I had 'lost my local channels', DirecTv sent a refresh (what the automated system called 'Troubleshooting'), the Tivo showed downloading some new satellite updates and *POOF* I had my locals back. It took a minute or two for the programming guide to update, so no one freak out if you see To Be Announced for a few minutes, but the short is don't be afraid to call DirecTv if your locals didnt automatically come back.

Now I'm sure if I had waited a day or two until they sent some OTA update it would've fixed itself, but I'm the impatient sort!

Hope this helps!

Glad you got it working. Please note that this is also documented in the Release Notes (http://www.dvrupgrade.com/dvrupgrade-support-center/?mod_id=2&id=118); here is the excerpt. Just mentioning that here so that others will have a pointer to the information, as well. Thx, Lou

Local Channels

After completing guided setup your local channels will not be available immediately -- please be patient, it can take anywhere from 24-48 hours for local channels to be visible in your channel line-up after completing your guided setup. Or, if you want them right away, you can log into your DIRECTV account and refresh your services using this link (https://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/mydirectv/mysystem/mySystemResendAuthorization.jsp).
