Well, I picked the wrong Trendnet USB adapter, I guess. I purchased a TU2-ETG (the USB2.0, Gigabit capable one) and last night I could not get an IP assigned (I assume) to my DirecTivo Series 2 (Hughes HDVR2) after doing an Instant Cake/PTVnet install. I did get the custom PTVnet screen, and the system behaved as normal otherwise. Well, the call failed, but that is because I don't have any phone line hooked up.

Does anyone believe the TU2-ETG adapter should have worked? Or has anyone got it working? And working well?

I went ahead and ordered the correct Trendnet adapter from DVRUpgrade as well as the serial cable. I figure I should do this "right". It's unfortunate I have to incur the expense. Oh well.

What a shame this didn't work right out of the gate. I have been waiting a while to get time to set this up.

Um, one other note, I downloaded the Instant Cake/PTVnet software around Early August of 2007, just to give you an idea of what version I have of the software (v6.2xxxxx; sorry I don't have the exact version).

Kurt,

I have no experience with the adapter you've mentioned; no idea whether it should work or not. Once you have the correct adapter, it should work just fine. If it doesn't, I'd take a look at your router and/or the connections between it and your TiVo -- from your description, the software sounds like it all installed correctly.

Lou,

Received the TU2-ET100 adapter from DVRUpgrade and I am now able to connect to the HDVR2 and view information via TivoWebPlus. I would assume that in the future we may see support for the TU2-ETG (gigabit USB 2.0 adapter)?
