Hi.

I've just downloaded instantcake, and am trying an install on a Series 1 Sony SAT-T60. However the InstantCake CD doesn't load right. I get the error:

mount: /dev/ is not a block device

and then it cannot read /cdrom/.live/...

I've burned the iso twice (although I am doing it on a mac) with no change in success. Both times it verified ok, the second time i used 8x burn speed for the hope of a better burn...

Ideas? do i need to use the PC to burn the iso as well (seams unlikely to me)?

Thanks,
Matt

Figured it out. I had to disable my S-ATA in the bios for it all to work...

I am having the same problem. Is the issue the CDROM drive or ?

I am doing this onan old Dell XPS. The most I can do is turn off LBA, which does not seem to help.

In my case i just had to go into an "advanced" tab, and turn off s-ata support. Try to go through all the bios tabs and turn off any "extra" features.

Thanks. I finally got it to work. I had removed all drives, including the zip & floppy drives, and only had the CDROM and the two "soon to be Tivo" drives in the PC. It still did not work. The issue turned out the be a second ATA/EIDE hard disk controller card still plugged into the PCI bus. (The XPS used to be a server.) Apparently even though that second hard disk controller card did not have anything plugged into it, and on the boot of the PC, the second hard disk controller card's post-PC-bios bios had the card disabled, the InstantCake was still confused by it. I had to physically remove that second hard disk controller card from the PC before the InstantCake would work.
