I just purchased and installed a new 160GB Hard Drive for my Tivo (TCD240080). The question I have is this;
What are my options for retrieving the info from the old hard drive?
I had considered sending the entire unit in but my girlfriend couldn't go without it for that long. I downloaded Tivo Desktop to my computer and thought about connecting it via usb to the Tivo and pulling the info over after reinstalling the old hard drive. The thing that bothers me now is that when I installed the new hard drive the first screen that I remember seeing was 'Clearing and Deleting Everything'. My fear is that if I try and swap out the new with old and then back again I may wreck everything. Could I send in the old hard drive to DVRupgrade and have them put it on disk? The shows don't have to be on the Tivo, just so that they are able to be viewed on the computer with a media player.
I need some options.

Thanks.

The best way to have accomplished this would have been to have ordered your kit along with a GOLD installation. We then copy the contents of your old drive over to the new one as part of the installation process.

You won't wreck anything by taking your new drive out and putting the old one back in, though - just be careful, the less time you spend inside your TiVo, the better off you are (ie, less of a chance of doing any damage)...
