upgrade Phillips DSR7000

I downloaded ptvnet. It arrived as a zipped ISO which I extracted and burned with Nero. It contains three items one is the isolinux this booted the pc no problem

I downloaded istantcake and received a image file (IC2-dsr7000-6.2a-01-2-101) not an ISO.
I burned and tryed to use this when ptvnet told me to insert and it said it could not find a standard instantcake CD

Should my instantcake download have been a ISO file zipped or otherwise?

I was went back to the site witin 4 hours and was unable to get a second download. I opened a ticket and requested another download but only got a scripted reply. Still waiting

thank you for your support

As a reminder, there is no direct support for the DIY software products; use of this forum is encouraged for questions like these (please be sure to check the official discussion thread (http://www.dvrupgrade.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12), as well).

The files currently distributed for InstantCake are ALL ZIP files which need to be unzipped and turned into an ISO for burning. What it sounds like is that when you downloaded the file, you may have not named it properly; I'd try changing the name so that it looks like this: xxxxx.iso.zip and then try to unzip it. Or try downloading it again and saving it with the correct name; we give you multiple download attempts just in the case that you have a problem with your initial download. Thx.

thank you for the info. Itried to change the file ext but that did not help.
I am unable to get another download from the site. They have not replied. The info at the bottom of the ticket says 0 downloads available. This should not be as I only downloaded Insantcake one time. Can you rectify this problem
thanks

Have you requested to have your download links regenerated? If not, please do so and provide your order information.

If you say you only downloaded once, and you currently have 0 downloads left, its is probably because there was a problem on your end during the download. The most common cause of something like that is use of a download manager with your browser.

First of all, please do not YELL.

Secondly, I've just verified that you opened up multiple tickets on our system over the weekend, everything ranging from not being able to login and retrieve your download (we regenerated your password to the site, and our logs show that you were then able to download) to discussion of not being able to unzip the file.

What I'd recommend you do is take a step back and get whatever computer problems might be plaguing you on your end sorted out before proceeding with your upgrade. Again, please refer to the README file and ensure that you are not using a download manager.

If you are interested in tracking the status of any of your tickets in our helpdesk system, you do need to activate your account using the instructions that were emailed to you when you submitted your ticket (it is a different account than the forum system); you can have your login for the helpdesk regenerated for you from the front page under the login menus.

We are regenerating your links again. Thx and good luck.

First let me apologize for yelling. My ( granddaughter) who is roaming around here today explained about caps. on. Sorry.
I am not too good about the internet or messaging. I can repair and operate a radar system thou and will eventually get up to speed on this stuff. If I live long enough.

I was able to get a clean dl of instantcake and had the tivo up and activated with directv 1hour 20 mins later.
I see that the PTVnet .6.2 will work on multiple dvrs' Will this instant cake work on hughes dvr 40 or must i purchase a separate ISO/

All this typing is new to this 69 year old.

Thanks for your patience and support

Hey, glad to hear all is well and that you got through it. To answer your question, the first 3 digits of your model number determine whether you can use the same version of InstantCake on a different unit. In your case, the Philips and Hughes models are different and each requires a different version of InstantCake. It is generally known that some versions work on different models interchangably, however it will cause problems when TiVo or DirecTV releases new versions of the software (ie if the wrong software is installed on a unit, it will not update and will cause confusion on the server when it dials in). Representatives from TiVo have been outspoken about that at tivocommunity.com and it is our wish that the members of the upgrade community ALWAYS use the correct version of the software for their units.
