Howto config networking on wireless Tivo?

I couldn't find the answer out there already but I apologize if I missed it. This is a great forum.

I want to get MVR working. I had R10 units which don't work so I've bought some DSR704s on eBay. I have the first one in hand and starting to play. It upgraded itself to 6.3 but I used PTVnet and InstantCake to revert to 6.2 ("yes" to all options) and it comes up fine. No obvious networking happening. It is not activated but sitting on top of my working R10 right now...could this be the problem?

Brand new install of PTVnet with 6.2 InstantCake. I plug in a Linksys WUSB11 v2.6 wireless USB adapter (which a book said works well with this model). The lights come on. My router wants it to provide the WEB (wireless encryption) or it won't talk to it...but I don't even know if it is trying to talk. I turned off the WEB and don't see it attaching. If it did I could limit my network to known MACs I guess.

I expected that my "Phone settings" would change to "phone and network settings"...no such luck.

How do I configure the networking? All my books say that just plugging in the USB adapter should do it.

I have more DSR704s on the way. Please tell me I did the right thing.

PTVnet does not support USB wireless adapters.

PTVnet DOES support USB 2.0 Ethernet adapters. If you want to go wireless you can connect a bridge or wireless gaming adapter.

I'm not sure what is meant by a wireless gaming adaptor. Can you point me at some part numbers?

Since apparently the WUSB11 v2.6 has been known to work with the DSR704 using other hacks has anyone got the drivers to work under PTVnet? I have a stock of those wireless units around and they are available on the web under $10 so they would be awefully convenient...more so than wiring!
