I have been looking for a HD dtv tivo with the network upgrade and have not seen it here. Where would this be available??
Also- are the units for mpeg-2 only and is DTV only going to use
mpeg-4 after the 1st of the year?? If so what is the next comparable unit to get with networking?

We currently only have a few HR10-250 units left so we've taken them off the web site. If you want one, and want to network it, your best bet would be to find an HR10-250 on Ebay, then either use our PTVnet DIY software or a PTVnet kit to upgrade it and enable networking.
As for DIRECTV; they have not been clear on when they will no longer broadcast in MPEG2, however I suspect it will be some time before they turn off the MPEG2 stream - if they do that, they will have to ensure that EVERYONE with an MPEG-2 receiver knows or they will no longer receive broadcasts; this applies to more than just TiVo units, obviously.

Lou- Thanks for the quick response. I take it that the mpeg-4 is not a worry for a while. If the few you have left are not available then I will try your suggestion and look on E-bay
Thanks

I think that is the best bet; MPEG-4 IS a worry for folks who want the newer channels that are currently coming online, but only as MPEG-4; but not a problem for those who don't care about these newer channels and still watch mostly MPEG-2. Its still somewhat speculative as to how fast that transition will happen.
As for the few units we have, we keep them in case our existing customers have problems and need replacements; the units are not cheap because they are either new or have been refurbished by our partners at CCS (at $225 apiece) so they really aren't for sale.
Thx again,
Lou
