I just purchased a HR10-250 TIVO DVR. I hooked it up and everything works until I notice that I am not getting all of the hd channels that are offered from directv. I tried to change the settings and it does not give me the option of choosing the 5LNB Dish in the settings. I think that is my problem because I do have a 5LNB DISH. I called directv and they told me that this receiver is not compatible with the new channels that they are now offering and will be adding in the future. Is this true or is it a way around it. I really did not want to purchase the directv dvr because it does not have the tivo interface. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks

The HR10-250 works fine with either of the 5LNB dishes. Just select 3LNB in your settings.

You cannot receive all of the HD channels with the HR10-250, since the new ones are MPEG4 and the HR10-250 has no way of processing that compression scheme.

From what I have read on dbstalk, even the HD channels that are currently still MPEG2 on directv will be switched to MPEG4 within a year. At that point the HR10-250 will only be able to receive SD channels from directv, but will still be able to receive OTA HD broadcasts.
