I just bought, downloaded and installed PTVnet and Instantcake. I have a HR10-250 IRD that I can PING, and FTP to it (havn't tried TELNET). The basic instructions for PTVnet says that after install, just type the IP address into you web browser. Well....I get "Cannot find server".
I did a search and found this exact question asked but no answers were given.
I am really new to this and have no clue where to go from here.
Thanks

How long did you wait after the unit booted before you attempted to access TiVoWebPlus?
Are you certain you've identified the IP address correctly?
Where else was this question posted? It would be good to merge this thread with the other one (I can do that) rather than start a new one with the same topic.

i'm sorry....I look all over for that message. The problem is, this is a message inside another thread of a different name. I do remember, several messages kept refering to the #2 message in the thread.
Sorry for rambling, just trying to find the thread.
Anyway:
How long did you wait after the unit booted before you attempted to access TiVoWebPlus? I actually installed PTVnet and Instantcake about a week ago and just now got a my USB2 to Ethernet adapter (Belkin F5D5050 ver. 2101).
Are you certain you've identified the IP address correctly? I plugged the Ethernet adapter into the DTIVO 10-250 and saw the router assign it an IP address.
I started the browser and entered the IP address and got page not found.
I PINGed the IP address and got good results.
I started my FTP client and connected to the DTIVO. I saw folders like ptvupgrade, tvbin, tvlib and the usual LINUX type folders.
Thanks for your help

You may want to try restarting the TiVo, now that it is connected to the network; either use the remote control, or telnet to the unit and type "reboot"...
Wait about 5 or 6 minutes after it comes up before attempting to access TiVoWebPlus.
