Or if I send drives (Seagate DB35s) to you, can you put 6.2a on them? WeaKnees can only do 6.2 or 6.3e.

If you are talking about a Series2 DirecTiVo standard-definition unit, the InstantCake version for them is 6.2a. Recertifications (when you send the drives to DVRupgrade for testing and formatting), also use 6.2a. All DVRupgrade kits for these units also use 6.2a.

Two Samsung S4040Rs. 6.3e caused daily reboots. http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=117972
Your web page indicates that recertification "only applies to drives originally purchased from DVRupgrade, except in special circumstances." If that is true then my 3 DB35s purchased from WeaKnees don't apply.
InstantCake isn't an option. I don't do Windows. Or PCs.

You've misunderstood the details of the recertification service.
We don't do warranty repairs on defective equipment not purchased from us. If you are interested in a recertification, the service is designed to be used with user-supplied drives. Here are the full details:
http://www.dvrupgrade.com/dvr/stores/1/special_services_nomodel.cfm
and the relevant excerpt:
User Supplied Drives If you've already purchased a drive from another source, and would like us to prepare it for installation in your TiVo DVR, or would like to send us your DVR and the drive and have us install it for you, the recertification service is an alternative to purchasing a fully-configured drive from us. Unfortunately, we cannot extend any warranty coverage for drives that are not purchased from us, so if the drive you send is defective, or fails in the future, it is not covered under warranty.
If the problem you are having is a result of 6.3e being on the unit, then a recertification is probably the solution to your problem. More details on this issue here, as well:
