Can I allow Calling, but not upgrade the software??

Is there any way to ALLOW the box to make daily or periodic calls (either network or phone) to DTv, but DISALLOW any possible software upgrade?

I'd like to watch PPV movies occaisionally, but when I try to order online, or via phone, I am told to connect my box to a phone line, or pay an additional fee for each movie.

SD-DVR80 increased to a 120, IC6.2a and PtvNet6.2, set to never phone home.

Set up your account on the Internet, If you order through Directv's website there is no charge and it enables every box in your house for one day for that PPV event.:D

DirecTV software upgrades happen though the satellite. My boxes haven’t made a call in years but the software still gets upgrades
