Hi. I purchased a replacement HD for my TiVo brand SR1 from DVRUpgrade and it has been working fine. But without warning it suddenly does not boot completely. After unplug/plug-in, the TiVo logo appears as usual, then the gray screen with the PTVUpgrade logo and "just a few more seconds", then a message to push the power button on the remote, and whether the power button is pushed or not, the screen goes black. The red recording light stays on. The cute TiVo intro video of the "roller coaster ride" does not play. We also tried new batteries in the remote -- no help. There is no audio or video.

It seems like there is a problem with the boot process. What should I do? I'd hate to have to replace the HD again. This one is about 1 yr old or so.

Thanks very much!

Neil,

It looks like you also sent an inquiry to our helpdesk, and we've already responded. Note that the problem you are having is likely to be a bad hard drive, but according to our records, you used InstantCake and did not purchase the drive from us.

Thanks Lou! I'll take this off-list.

Where is the help desk? I bought an upgraded drive from you guys about 8 months ago (June 2007). Then Thursday night, with no prior problems, the TIVO locked up, and on reboot I get a green screen. My guess is that the hard drive is bad, and I just bought a new one today, but am wondering if there's anything that can be done about the 8-month-old drive I just got.
