I upgraded one of my SD-DVR40 today using 250 GB HD, PTVNET and Cake today. Worked great, but now I have two issues. Seems that my DLink ethernet adaptor doesn't work with PTVNet, so I need to purchase one that does.

Second, I want to know how to get my recorded shows from my OEM drive to the new one.

Can someone help me with this?

Here is a link to the Trendnet Adapter we recommend and sell (http://www.dvrupgrade.com/dvr/stores/1/accessory_nomodel.cfm?SID=1&Product_ID=341), for PTVnet kits and software installations.

As for getting the content off your old drive, doing so is non-trivial and can't really be done in the way you've attempted to solve the problem.

We offer a service, called a GOLD INSTALLATION which can be purchased along with our PTVnet kits. The installation service involves copying your old drive to a new drive and then installing/configuring the PTVnet software.

The tools you've chosen are designed to be used on a fresh new drive and create a new drive for your unit, but if what you want is to copy your old stuff to a new drive, then purchasing a kit and the installation service is your best bet. We don't offer this service on any drives other than the ones we provide, however we can offer you a trade-in credit of your software purchase towards the purchase of a kit and an installation service. Just contact our helpdesk with your order information after placing your order and we can make the necessary adjustments.
