I have a Phillips DSR704. Back in October, I had to replace the hard drive, so I used Instant Cake and PTVNet. While I was at it, I wanted to get it on my home network, so I made the appropriate choices in PTVNet. I had a linksys USB100M adapter, but the TiVo would not show up on my network. After a while, I figured out that it was because I had chosen the USB 2.0 drivers when I ran PTVNet, so a USB 1.0 device wouldn't work. OK, fine, I really wanted to use a faster adapter anyway. So I got a USB200M v2 off eBay. But the same thing. The middle light lights up, but my router does not see it. I took a closer look at the 200M adapter, and very small it says ver. 2.1. Is this my problem, that it is not a ver. 2.0? I'd really like to be pretty sure before I buy another adapter.

Thanks,

PS there is another very similar thread (http://www.dvrupgrade.com/forums/showthread.php?t=282) from December, but no one replied

it works fine.

That's the one they recommend on the website as compatible, right? I figured as a last resort, I would get one, but I was hoping there was a way to use what I have without spending more money.

Well, I just broke down and ordered a TrendNet adapter from here (http://www.shopping.com/xVI-Trendware-TRENDnet-TU2-ET100-TU2-ET100?dId=71ai4kE_m4alcFyf2K8Mxw==&merch=442675&CT=2). I'll post again about my success or lack thereof.

In order to get the USB200M v2.1 to work you must plug in the adapter and the ethernet cable. Then go to Reboot the receiver through the setup. This adapter does not work with Plug and Play on the TiVos. I don't even really know if the TiVo supports Plug and Play but I know that it does not with this adapter. I got mine up and working with the v2.1. Finally.
