Just installed an upgrade (seagate)from Dvrupgrade on my R-10. Went to a 160GB drive which about doubled the recording capacity. Had freezing problems with the old drive, by the way. Occasionally the receiver will lag in response to the remote or front panel controls. Sometimes 10 - 15 seconds. then all the commands entered in that time will take place. I can see the amber light respond to the controls, the receiver simply doesn't react. I am connected to a phone line. Software version is 6.1-01-2521. Thanks for any insight you may provide.

Well after a couple of weeks there have been no more problems with the remote lag (it happened three times within the first two days after new drive installation) and the new drive seems to have done the trick as far as R10 freezing.

Picture freezing came back immediately after upgrade to 6f. Not only freezing worst than ever, now the unit randomly reboots. The new hard drive did not fix the problem. Everything I see points to the software not hardware.:(

Hopefully, you ran diagnostics on your original hard drive to determine whether that was the problem in the first place.
You might want to also follow this thread (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=387891) at TiVoCommunity; aside from the possibility of hardware issues causing the problem, it is also possible that its related to the signal coming down from the satellites.
Several months ago, people running certain versions of software on certain units were experiencing stability issues when watching certain channels. Check out this thread (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=367809) for more information/discussion on that, as well.
