I'm new to the forum. I have Hughes GXCEBOT unit that I purchased in 2001 and is still in use. The software version is 3.5c something.

Are there any other Series 1 owners around here? I'm thinking of upgrading the drives to increase the capacity, but I'm wondering if there are any arguments against increasing the capacity and just getting a newer unit?

Any help and or advice is appreciated. Thank you.

I am in a similar situation. I have a Sony SVR-2000 series 1 that has been very reliable. From what I understand the series 1 is very hackable whereas the newer versions may have some limitations. I'm not sure what those are. I'm also wondering if it's best to get a cachecard vs. getting a turbonet card. I too would love to hear what people have to say about this.

Not sure how much interest the GXCEBOT gets these days. Back when I hacked mine, updates kept coming through and wiping it out. After a couple times, I got tired of pulling the drive and let the TuboNet card sit idle and just let the hacks fade into oblivion.

That was years ago.

Now I'm curious about the current state of the GXCEBOT hacks. Last I checked, is seemed people started ignoring the S1 because it couldn't do HMO. While I Miss being able to stream to my laptop when something was on tv that i didn't want to watch, I'm hesitant to load up my old (5+years) CD and install outdated hacks in an outdated manner. The stuff from back then wasn't very reliable, the box would reboot if the subnet was scanned and the daemons would die and require restart.

At the moment, my GXCEBOT thinks it's a SAT60 because i let a friend "instant cake" it w/o asking enough questions *lol* Glad the original drive is still safely stored away and he only hit the replacement drive i'd been running in it.

Anyway, just checking into the thread, assumed GXCEBOT was dead, but if it's not, i'd be curious to get some links to "current" software for that S1 DirecTivo box.
