Newbie Help w/ Tivo Web Plus

I seriously need some help with Tivo Web Plus and possibly PTVnet. Here is my install info. I upgraded my Samsung SIR-S4120R with Instantcake and PTVnet, during install I realized that I needed to install PTVnet first then Instantcake but I had installed Instantcake already so I redid the install without formatting the drive installing PTVnet first then Instantcake and it went fine The machine boots up fine and I am able to do everything but I have been trying to use superpatch which requires me to telnet in and run the script but when I click on the option to start the telnet daemon I get the error message "Couldn't bind to socket." I know the networking functions are working since I can access the DirecTivo through my browser, it has an ip address, etc. I want to enable MRV and HMO with superpatch but since I get this error I can't go any further. I have been doing searches about this for 4 days now on this site and other DVR help sites just reading but the more I search the farther I seem to get away from the answer I need so I am posting this in hopes somebody could help me. Please any help would be appreciated. If you need me to clarify anything please let me know, I am so tired and out of it from trying to get this to work.

Telnet should already be running as part of your PTVnet installation; just use teraterm pro, or hyperterminal, from your PC to telnet to your unit:


telnet 192.168.1.100 (or whatever your IP address is)


To get to it and continue with whatever instructions you are following...
