Does the disk "PTVnet DirecTV TiVo" for the hr10-250 include killhdinitrd? Does it include the added linux commands of the Universal Boot CD.

I currently have a Universal Boot CD, version 4.01 with enhancements (which I think included killhdinitrd), will i need that disk at all.

I think i need to rebuild the tivo drives and am thinking about using the InstantCake 6.3d and the PTVnet disk, just because it would save me a lot of trouble.

Thanks for any help.

Not exactly sure what you are asking here; bottom lines are this:

InstantCake -- automatically build a replacement drive for your TiVo

PTVnet -- automatically enable telnet/ftp and install TiVoWebPlus on a drive you supply for your TiVo; if its a blank drive, PTVnet is designed to work in conjunction with InstantCake

Universal Boot CD -- want to do it all from scratch on your own? Universal Boot CD contains all the utilities you need to do it that way.

You don't need the Universal Boot CD if you are going to use InstantCake and PTVnet together; the products are mutually exclusive.

Thanks. Now i have another newbie question.

So if i use the PTVnet i can extract? Or at least i'll have the capabilties if i add some software. I just don't want to have to mess with killhdinitrd.

You won't have the ability to extract unless you install the additional software required for it. PTVnet gives you TiVoWebPlus, telnet, and ftp, which is all you need to install additional software like what you are talking about.
