Getting error changing "save until"

I have a matched pair of DSR708's, Insta-Caked and PTVNet'ed, taking advantage of larger disks and the whole plethora of good deals like MRV. Recently, one of the two has begun displaying an error when trying to change the retention of an already recorded show through the Tivo menu.

I can make the same change through TivoWeb Plus, and it works, but using the remote pointed at the DVR gets an error. It indicates that the disk is full, which it probably is, but there are LOTS of recordings that are flagged to remove to make room (including some in the "suggestions" folder). And manually deleting several programs does not resolve the problem.

The big problem is that it is not recording some shows, presumably for the same reason.

Behavior does not change after restarting Tivo unit either....

Is it possible that there is a table that holds indicators of retention that may be full, as opposed to the disk itself?

Suggestions on what to look for? How to fix?

Well, well, well... can you say "shot myself in the foot"? Here is what I had recently done that triggered the above problem.

My DW is an Idol fan. Some 3-hour daily "morning" show is now doing their middle hour as an Idol hour (or some such). She did not want to record the whole 3-hour show (she has somehow filled up the 120 gig upgrade drive) and was trying to set up to record just the one hour. Well, I figured out how to set that up for her, and on the "manually record" screen, there is an option for how long this should go on. I chose 4 months so I would not have to mess with it. Well, her ToDo list now went on and on and on, with each of these manual recordings. That seems to have filled up some table somewhere....

I deleted off about 2.5 months of those on the ToDo screen, and the OP problem was resolved.
