View Full Version : DVRupgrade-d HR10-250 TiVo service call?

Hi:

I have just purchased and installed a DVRupgrade kit (500GB + networking bundle) in my HR10-250 and all is well; I'm very satisfied. However, based on past experiences with a SAT-T60 upgraded with a CacheCard that needed to have the drive pulled and connected to my PC to reinstall the network drivers every time a software update was triggered by the TiVo service call (most recently a little over a year ago at the DST update), I do not want to ever repeat that process with this unit. My unit is not and will never be connected to a phone line, but I want to make absolutely sure it is not making the call over the network. How can I verify this? By looking at the System Information screen, it seems like it is making a call; there is activity on the Service Connection (not the Service Data Download) field -- on my unit most recently on 4/21 and next scheduled for 4/28. Maybe I'm mistaking this for the call that triggers the software updates -- not that I'm really expecting any more anyway after 6.3f but I just want to make sure. I know the kit is designed to not make the call for this very reason, but I want to make sure I didn't inadvertantly do something in customizing my unit that may have restored the call.
