Just installed a new drive from DVR upgrade on a Philips 704. Everthing went great, but I notice that the system information now list the unit as a 7000.
Is this normal?

On another note, direct TV's custermer service has dropped to an all time low. After I set everything up I could not get my locals. After rebooting I called Direct TV.
After 20 minutes of resetting this and unplugging that, the rep tells me my unit is bad and I there is nothing he can do. Says I need a Direct TV DVR.

I then check out DVR upgrades knowlede base and learn that I can reset the unit by logging on to Direct. Three minutes later my locals are back.:D
Can they be that bad, or are they just trained to push their DVR.

The difference in the IRD model type is normal, as is the delay of getting your local channels back right away (unless you log in and 'refresh your services'). Both of these things are mentioned in the release notes, along with some other helpful info - please see the link below for more info.

Thx

PS Yes, DIRECTV has become lame in the past few years. We are recommending folks take the plunge and move to cable and the TiVo HD / Series3 whenever they are ready.
