Hello, and thanks in advance for your help.

I have Hughes dirctivo (or whatever it's called specifically) HDVR2 that was having issues freezing, and failing playback. I took a different old 40 gig hard drive, installed InstantCake, and everything seemed to be working seamlessly. Impressed, I got PTVnet expecting the same ease of use, ran it, but I think I'm missing something. I allowed updates, but the software is still 6.2a. I also enabled the USB20 and then tried to plug in a Linksys WUSB11 ver 2.6 USB to wireless B adapter. I then restarted the Tivo unit using the remote (not the power cable), but only the power light for the WUSB11 comes on, no link light. It appears that PTVnet made no changes to the hard drive as far as I can tell. Is there a way to verify that these changes have been made at all? Also, if it did work, what should I try in order to get the Tivo on to the wireless? (no encryption, router supports B & G protocol)

Thanks so much for your help

-John D

Ok, So I'm a little farther now. On a whim I ran PTVnet again, and this time I got the DVRupgrade boot screen instead of the old one. I opted to turn USB 2.0 off this time, and there was no power to the WUSB11. So I reran PTVnet, and enabled them. The power light comes on, I still get the new boot screen, but it doesn't link and there are no options in the menus about network. Do I need to type a special code into the phone number to get it to force network (If thats not even close, I thought I remembered reading that a while ago, but apparently not.

Also, Does PTVnet turn encryption off, or is that yet another program?

Thanks again

The WUSB11 is not one of the supported USB Ethernet adapters, so that is not going to work for you. Please see the support information (http://www.dvrupgrade.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20) for more details.

No, PTVnet does not disable encryption; you have to do that yourself.

Ah, thanks. I figured that since it was supported on the Tivo site it would work. I guess not then.

Any pointers on where to look for a straightforward method for tivo decryption?

{edit} Also, even after finally getting the splash screen, I do not have a network option, only phone. Does it show up when a suitable adapter has been plugged in, or is there something else I need to do?

Thanks again
