I have read all the forums. I followed the install instructions.
(all drive configuration, jumpers, cable, IDE-0 or 1)

I downloaded "Instantcake-IC2-TCD140-7.2.0-Oth-01-2-140.iso for my Tivo Model TVIO 140060.

Is that the correct image for that Model??

I've tried two different computers. I've tried four different hard drives. (It's a 2 drive system)

I get the message "/dev/hdc: No such device or address Restore
failed: Unable to open destination device for writing"

I can boot the computer with the live CD of Knoppix 5.1 with the same drive configuration and it will see the drives.

Any ideas?

I've seen this question in the DIY Software Discussions area before, so I've moved your post there, as well.

This is an indication that your drives are not connected to your PC as you think they are. Think about it; if your target hard drive we the secondary master, then you wouldn't get an error finding /dev/hdc.

So, take another look at your PC configuration and do whatever is necessary to either define your define or connect your devices so that you can ensure the requirements for InstantCake are met and you'll be fine.

Thx
