When Will InstantCake'd Model R10 Update?

Hello all.

On 7/19/08, I installed the appropriate version of InstantCake for my DirecTV TiVo model R10 with no additional hacks to a new and tested Western Digital 500GB hard drive. All went very well.

The R10 has been running with the InstantCake installation for four days with no issues, except that it has not yet updated its version 6.1 software to the latest version 6.4a. I have been forcing the modem to call out a couple of times a day. The calls all report success, but I have not yet received the "pending update" message to restart the machine for an update installation.

I searched these forums, but could not find an answer to my question, which is, approximately how much time is needed for the version 6.1 software to update to the latest version 6.4a on a caked R10?

It may or may not happen. I have been waiting 2 months for my Philips DVR2000/17 to upgrade and it has not. Directv has been having problems with certain models of receivers.:(

I’m sorry to hear that. :(

I don’t think that 6.1 is DST compliant and is also missing some features found in 6.4a that I would like to get back.

Has anybody had a caked R10 update from 6.1 to 6.4a?

Good news. :)

Yesterday, 7/25, my caked DirecTV TiVo R10 updated its software from version 6.1 to the current version 6.4a.

For the record, the R10 took six days to update from the time the freshly caked drive was installed and first turned on.
