The original hard drive (WD Caviar EIDE 250GB) crapped out. SinceI am taking off the cover and having at it, I want to increase the drive size. I haven't upgrade a unit in about three years, however, I am fairly familiar with the process. Seems like the newer tools make it much easier these days.

I have seen some folks selling pre-configured drives as large as 500GB and 750GB. I won't spend the extra money on pre-configured, I will do the formatting myself. Sincet he orginal drive is EIDE. I am curious how they are going as high as 750 GB as I thought those size drives were only achived using an ATA or SATA drives. IS ATAsupported in the HR10-250 using InstantCake?

Regards,

We sell kits that are 500GB and 750GB.

As we state, InstantCake will build the equivalent of one of our replacement drive kits, so by definition, you can use a 500GB or 750GB drive of your choosing. If you take a look at the release notes (linked below) there are more details as well; the HR10-250 uses PATA/EIDE drives only, SATA is not supported by that older hardware.
