Doing a little pre-purchase prep here, just want to make sure i'm okay with this setup.
I have a Tivo brand S2 DT that has a bad mobo (went through trying to have it repaired a while back & had no success) but the HD is still good. Original Seagate 80GB Model, I'd like to replace the smaller 40GB HD in my Humax DRT400 unit with that one.
All I (think) I need is the correct InstantCake version, then follow the normal procedure to format the new drive, yeah? Since it already has a Tivo install, should I wipe it & format in any particular fashion, or will IC do that as part of the normal procedure?
Thanks for any advice!

Well, went ahead with the drive replacement & everything seems to have worked fine! Hooray for InstantCake! :D
But, and it's a big but, I can't seem to get the wireless adapter to connect. It's an Official Tivo branded adapter, had been working fine with the previous setup. It sees the SSID fine, and I verified the password was correct but it always bounces back to the Wireless Network Problem screen: "The wireless network VLQE3 was not found" etc.
Is there any chance the bake didn't activate wireless functionality for some reason?
I've tried connecting the adapter to both USB ports on the Humax unit also, still no joy.

Did you purchase and install PTVnet which is required to enable the USB? :) without this networking will not work.

This is Humax model, the USB functioned fine with the factory installed HD. I don't think I need (or, had better not need) another application to re-activate those USB ports.
When it goes through the Startup, it recognizes the adapter and sees all of the open wireless Networks in the area as well. It's only after entering the password that it tries to connect and fails. I've set a new SSID, changed Channels, and assigned a few passwords as well. Just no go.
I may attempt to run an ethernet cable, but the router is upstairs and that would require some drilling. I don't think the Wife will be too pleased.

Update: I set the router to use WEP 64-bit instead of WPA (I previously had issues with other devices using WEP, but I have no choice here) and I get all the way to the IP Address stage! Annnnnnd then it craps out again, trying to obtain the IP from DHCP server, which the router is configured to do. One of the steps asks if a DHCP ID is required, which I know isn't and yet it won't get past that step.
*sigh*
I've had 3 Tivos that all were setup with very little aggravation, this just bites.
I also tried assigning a Static IP from the pool, but it won't accept the Gateway settings the router reports.

Aaaaaaaahaaaaaa!!!! WEP Hex Key seems to be the answer. Why that and ONLY that - who knows. It's connected wirelessly, and updating so hopefully I can get channel info & the IR Blaster working now.
Sonofagun, I was thinking about throwing a large drive in here down the road, but after this - I dunno.
