I have a R10 that had a bad HD, so I purchased a new HD and wanted to use IC to format the drive. I realized that my computer did not have 2 IDE interfaces. It is a 3 year old Dell 8400. So I purchased a PCI IDE controller to connect the HD. I have the CD on the primary controller and set to Slave (per instructions) and the new drive connected to the new IDE controller and have the drive set to master.

When I boot up IC, I get a message that states that it cannot recognize the second IDE controller. and eventually get the infamous message about (hdc not found...). I read several post and eventually turned off as much "stuff" as possible (USB, SATA etc)...still no luck.

The controller did come with device drivers and I was able to verify that it is working by loading the device drivers in WINXP and was able to see the device name/serial number.

I have a couple of questions:
1) Can you load additional device drivers during the setup process of IC?
2) What version of Linux is IC based? I have several flavors of device drivers and since there are no standards, I want to make sure that I have the driver that is required.
3) Is there any way to get this software to work with one IDE controller? Even if it is slower.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Chris

Your best bet is going to be to find / borrow another PC if you plan on using InstantCake. The recommendation is to use a PC with two IDE controllers, and it sounds like even though you are installing a second controller, its not going to work because it is not recognized by the boot CD; its not possible to use additional drivers with the boot CD, so that is a road you do not want to go down.

As an alternative, please consider ordering a kit; we can give you a credit (100%) of your InstantCake purchase towards the cost of a preconfigured kit. You can order a kit directly from our web site and then just open a ticket with your order information and let us know what happened.
