My stock 160GB HD failed on my Series 2 Tivo. Searched the forum and downloaded InstantCake. Ordered a 320GB Seagate drive. Plugged the drive into system and followed instructions. Put drive in Tivo and it was stuck at the Powering Up screen.
I forgot the new drive was Seagate and old WD and set the jumper to match the old drive which was wrong. I just had to put the jumper in the proper MASTER spot then the Tivo came back to life.
At this time the best deal was for the 320GB drive- found it on Amazon which had a special and it came out to less than even NewEgg.com
I never ran into space issues even with the 160GB drive so 320GB is more than fine.
Total was $95 for InstantCake and the drive plus 1.5hrs total to set up new drive, install the drive and set up Tivo again.
That's a LOT better than buying a NEW Tivo!
Thanks for the great resources here, folks!
