Tivo with Directtv

I have a Tivo from Directtv, I paid the full prices $300 I think, 2 years ago I think. Is it mine? Its not like the dvr you get now where you lease it? Im new here, so thanks for the help.

If all you paid was $300 dollars, it is definitely not yours, but if you "upgrade" to one of the new DirecTV DVR's, most of the time the installers leave the old box anyway.

They certainly left my HR10-250, when I "upgraded" to the HR21-100. I suspect you could get in trouble if you try to sell the old box, but DirecTV might not care since they would be getting a new customer.

For now, I have just removed the HR10-250 from my account so I don't need to pay the monthly fee, but I plan to keep. If something goes wrong with HR21-100, I can have the old box re-added to my account so I don't have to be without TV while the newer box is repaired or replaced.
