First, a little background. About two months after 9.4, my series 3 HD started to go bad. I used winmfs to try to create a back up, but I got the "not a tivo drive" error, which I was unable to fix, so I downloaded instantcake.

I thought that I knew enough to pull it off, but i didn't (which is my fault, i know). After reading through the forums, i understand a little more about Linux now, but still not enough to be able to figure out what my drive assignments are. I have a SATA dvd rom and a Samsung HD hooked up my Gigabyte GA-EP35_Ds3l mobo. From what I can gather, the DVD drive should be the primary slave and the HD should be the secondary master. I tried to go into the bios and look around and it says that the HD is the IDE Chanel 0 Master and the DVD is the IDE Chanel 1 Master. I have been unable to change this and the only other option that I can see in the bios in IDE Chanel 4 Slave. I'm lost here and worried that I may not be able to change the settings to use instantcake. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you are not able to figure out the drive assignments on your PC, then InstantCake is probably not for you; we do offer pre-configured kits for your unit and that is what we recommend to most folks, unless they are particularly PC savvy and can supply the necessary information to the software scripts used as part of InstantCake.
