So I sucessfully baked a 320 GB Hitachi drive and just put it in the tivo. Now I'm stuck on welcoming, powering up...
Don't know whats wrong. The jumpers are set to master.
Only thing I can think of is that I may have had the drive on Cable Select when it was baking, even though it was on secondary ide master and the cd driver was primary ide slave.. Any advice on kickstart or anything to get this working??

Simple steps to try...
run manufacturer's diagnostics on your new drive, before using InstantCake, to ensure there are no problems with it
run manufacturer's diagnostics on your original drive to determine whether there is anything wrong with it
install your original drive back into the TiVo to ensure there is nothing wrong with the TiVo
assuming your new drive is OK, when you use InstantCake DO NOT use cable-select; that just leads to more potential confusion. configure the drive as master and connect to your PC as secondary master as directed (some versions of InstantCake for certain models offer an advanced mode which will let you manually select primary, secondary, tertiary IDE controller, as well - use with caution)
consider replacing your IDE cableLou

Hmmm.. Well the hard drive was bought BRAND NEW so there may be some problems there, I guess.
The reason I replaced the hard drive is because I searched the problem I was having with the tivo in the first place. I put it in Storage over summer, and when I came back, the tivo wouldn't boot up. It would go to the welcoming powering up, and then welcome you're almost there. Then, the hard drive sounded like it tried to run, and it made a small click and restarted the cycle. This went on for hours and it seemed to be the hard drives fault.
I guess i have to go home and rebake it using the master jumper settings. Ughhh..

After doing those other things, perhaps. Running diagnostics on the drives should be your highest priority.

Please see my original response to your first inquiry; definitely more than one step there!

Just rebaked it, and now I'm stuck on Welcome. Powering Up.
I'm sure I baked it correctly as the Primary Slave CD Drive was used with InstantCake and the primary tivo hard drive was plugged into Secondary Master. It said bake was complete, and when I put it in, I'm stuck. I replaced the IDE cable as well - no luck.
I just put in the old drive and it stayed on the Welcome message for about 60 seconds and then switched to "Almost There. Just a few minutes more..." for about 2 minutse and then the process restarted once again. I assume that means a problem with the hard drive.
I am using instantcake-tcd649-1.1-std for use with Tivo Model 24008A

Am I using the wrong InstantCake Software for my Tivo?
Service Number is 240-0000-8083-908A and Model No: TCD24008A

If you have a TCD240 model; then you need to ensure you are using the correct version of the software. The version you've mentioned in your previous post, is for a different model TiVo than you just mentioned.
