I have a Philips DSR704. The unit has a 160GB HDD that was setup using InstantCake 6.4. After using InstantCake, the unit was then activated and used for a while. Now I'm trying to install PTVNet for this unit. I have the CD on the Primary IDE as a slave. I have the HDD as a master on the secondary IDE. When I boot the PTVNet CD, it says:
Loading vmlinuz....
Loading initrd.img.....Ready
Uncompressing Linux...
crc error
-- System Halted
any suggestions?

Could be a PC compatibility issue, but it could also be a bad burn. You don't need to redownload the software, but you might try reburning at a different speed, and/or using a different brand of media. If that doesn't work, try a different PC and/or a different CD-ROM drive if you happen to have one.
