OK, someone please explain this one to me. Yesterday, I installed a replacement 500GB hard drive in my Series2 TiVo (TCD140060) using Instant Cake. I didn't keep anything from the old drive, just wanted to fresh, clean drive on my TiVo. After installation and Guided Setup completed, I noticed that my old Season Passes showed up! How is that possible? I thought all that info was stored on the hard drive.

Not that I'm complaining at all. It certainly saves me a lot of time recreating those Season Passes but I'm just wondering how this is possible.

And before you ask, yes, I did install the new drive, not the old one (I can see the significant capacity upgrade TiVo System Info is reporting). I also have my account setup so I can remote schedule online. Could this be it? Were my season passes uploaded to TiVo's servers and then downloaded back to my TiVo when I did the Guided Setup?

Seems very odd. Are you certain that you didn't make a mistake in there somewhere? Would you be willing to go through the process again to ensure that you didn't?

I'm fairly certain I didn't make a mistake. I put in the 500GB hard drive and removed the previous 2 drives (60GB & 120B) and my TiVo is showing 638 hours of capacity. I subscribe to the rule "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" theory so I'm a little hesitant to pull the drive and start over from scratch.

Now that I think about it, should I be seeing 638 hours of capacity on a single 500GB drive? That almost seems to be too much. Instant Cake suggested at the end of baking that I would see roughly 582 hours. I purchased the 500GB Seagate DB35 DVR Series Hard Drive.

Sounds right; check out the screen shot from our 500GB kit for that unit (http://www.dvrupgrade.com/dvr/stores/1/product1.cfm?SID=1&Product_ID=217&Category_ID=2&page=prod&type=Model&ModelID=49).

Check out this thread at TiVoCommunity (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=4121063); sounds very similar to what you may have experienced.
