I purchased the download version but I noticed the File extention on it is .zip not .iso So I uncompressed the file since it isn't an iso.
I see different folders and files but none that tell me specifically which file is the image I need to burn to disk. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
The folders I see are _Image, _live, and ISOLINUX. Autorun.inf file, PTSTART.exe

nvm figured it out, Renamed the extention on the zip file .iso and used active iso burner to create image. it works :)

I just installed an upgrade to my series 2 tivo, (a 500GB HD) and is working fine.
I will like to get access to the bash. I saw the slicer software document (http://www.dvrplayground.com/article/13324/The-Slicer---Instructions-and-Release-Notes/)
Still do not know how to install it.
Help! please!:o

Sounds like you don't have bash accessible on your Series2 or even telnet/ftp access to it (doing so is not trivial). Not sure why you would want or need the slicer, but as stated, you do need to have at least that sort of access to your TiVo to utilize it...

You can't unless you make additional modifications. On some Series2 units (TCD540) you'd need to do a PROM mod which involves desoldering a chip on the system board, and replacing it with a programmable one that his modified accordingly. If you have a TCD240 or TCD130 unit, you don't need to do a prom mod, but you still need to modify the software on the system drive. Use killhdinitrd, and then install telnet/ftp and other apps as you see fit.
Both are non-trivial but if you want to learn more, check out dealdatabase (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/).
