I'm assuming that 6.4a is the latest software. I've been using 3.1f for some time with no problems. I've got a new HR10-250 and I'm trying to decide if it's necessary to put on 6.4a. Are there problems with 3.1f? I read earlier that DTV may or may not force an upgrade but it's probably unlikely.
Thanks for the info.

I don't have an answer for you as different folks have different experiences with each version of the software. Some folks prefer the older 3.1.5f, while others prefer the more recent 6.4a.
I'm moving your post over to the DIY software area as folks who use InstantCake may have different preferences. You may also want to check/post over at tivocommunity.com (http://www.tivocommunity.com) for more potential feedback.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give it a go to see if I like it. What is needed to do the upgrade? I've used InstantCake to install 3.1.5f. Do I just need to purchase the 6.4a image?
